Background Check
Every role our parent volunteers take on involves some level of interaction with our band students. Because of this, NISD requires all volunteers who work around students to complete a background check.
The process is quick and easy to complete. Even if you’re not sure how you might help the band program this year, we encourage you to complete the background check now so it doesn’t become a roadblock when an opportunity to volunteer comes up.

Chaperones
Chaperones
Our chaperones play an essential role in supporting the O’Connor Band Program and do an incredible job of caring for our students throughout the marching season. From bus rides and football games to competitions, performances, and other band events, chaperones help ensure that students are safe, accounted for, and have the support they need throughout the day.
We are always excited to welcome new parent volunteers to our chaperone team! Because each event has different needs, the band directors determine the number of chaperones needed for each trip or activity. Chaperone spots are limited and may fill quickly, so we encourage interested parents to sign up early.
Thank you to all of our chaperones for volunteering their time and helping make each event a safe, organized, and positive experience for our students.

Move Crew
Move Crew
Our Move Crew is the road crew behind the O’Connor Band! These volunteers help keep the program moving by loading, transporting, setting up, tearing down, and reloading the equipment used in our marching band and winterguard productions.
From front ensemble instruments and sound equipment to props and other performance gear, the Move Crew plays an essential role in making sure everything gets where it needs to be and is ready when our students take the floor or field.
It’s also a great way to get involved, meet other band families, and experience performances from a unique perspective—often with one of the best seats in the house! Whether you can help at one event or throughout the season, every extra set of hands makes a difference.
In order to be apart of the move crew you must complete the background check required by NISD.
